Meriam absolute well type manometers measure pressures
relative to absolute zero by trapping a complete vacuum between the sealed
end of a glass tube and the mercury fill fluid in the tube. Scales have
zero at the bottom and maximum range at the top. Most scales are graduated
in inches and tenths but full and partial scale verniers are available
to read inches and hundredths. Metric units are also supported. With no
moving parts to effect measurement, these manometers remain accurate for
years.
Standard well type manometers will measure differential,
vacuum or gauge pressure depending on how the process connections are
made. Special absolute pressure well types measure pressure relative to
absolute zero pressure.
